Brownie batter protein bites are chocolatey, no-sugar added treats that are perfect for on the go or even a healthy treat for the kiddos. Dates, almond butter, collagen peptides, and coconut oil make them paleo-friendly and taste just like brownie batter!

Brownie batter protein bites are the perfect paleo snack with nut butter, coconut oil, collagen, and dates.

    Easy Protein Snack

Collagen peptides are a great source of dairy-free protein, and amazing for you gut health, hair, skin and nails. I use the unflavored protein in my recipe, but there are vanilla or chocolate versions out there that would be just as amazing.

I wanted to make an energy bite with the collagen in them just as an easy backup to having bars on hand. These are a bit cheaper and more customizable as well. I like to package single servings up in freezer bags and throw them in my gym bag and they are thawed, but not melted by the time my workout it through.

    Eat Chocolate Without Guilt

Did you know that dark chocolate is great source of iron? Most women are iron deficient. I, myself, have difficulty getting as much iron as I would like.

If iron deficiency is a persistent problem it can lead to all sorts of troublesome outcomes, such as hair loss, brittle nails, fatigue and a whole host more. So do your hair and nails a favor and make a double batch of these chocolatey protein snacks!

    Ingredients

    • 1 cups dates, pitted
    • 3 scoops collagen peptides ((33g))
    • ¼ cup creamy, salted, unsalted nut butter
    • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder ((plus extra for dusting, if desired))
    • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (alcohol free, if possible)
    • 1 tablespoon coconut oil ((optional))
    • ¼ cup chocolate chips (sugar, diary free (optional))
    • ¼ cup raw walnuts

    Instructions

    • In a food processor, add dates, collagen, nut butter, cocoa, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract and process for 30-60 seconds or until mixture starts to form a ball. If the mixture is too dry, add the coconut oil.
    • Add the chocolate chips and walnuts to the food processor and pulse 5-10 times until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
    • Using a cookie dough scoop, grab 1 tablespoon at a time and press into balls. The heat from handling the mixture will soften them a bit, so they will need to be chilled for 5-10 minutes to set.
